SUMMERS SHADOW.
To a girl called Summer.
sneak.
She wore mass destruction.
Shellshock eyes review the past.
And we laughed on regardless.
Those youthful days could never last.
Care-free intoxication.
If only we could bottle hope.
As meaningful as nothing.
Too hung-up to cut the rope.
Puberty became her.
The blooming rush of sex appeal.
In awe of her perfection.
Higher than stiletto heals.
Her modesty - her downfall.
Her nervous smile, a tragedy.
Disabled by her beauty.
With open eyes we fail to see.
The cuts, the scars, the bruises.
The rancid taste of sour caress.
Beaten by creation.
Made to measure hopelessness.
The hands that cradled Summer,
now sinister on winter night.
Ashamed of his advances.
Molested by the cruel moonlight.
Too young to even wonder.
Too entwined in chemistry.
I remember fondly,
the way she never spoke to me.
My friend who never uttered -
a single word about her pain.
This memory now tainted.
The past will never be the same.
Lost in Summers' shadow.
In memories I fail to find -
answers to the questions,
that plague my disenchanted mind.
