Fallen Castles

What if I fail to be
All that the world expects of me?
What if I shatter the hopes?
Of all those dear to me?

Will I be able
To look into the mirror again,
And stare deep into my eyes
Without pain?

What if I fail to be
What I want to be?
Will I be able to withstand
The streaks of old dreams?
That once gushed up like streams
But have now mingled into dust?
Will I be able to stand up and say,
"I'll build my castle once again,
I'll do it, I can, I must?"
