Ode to Wembley

Wembley
I saw my boyhood dreams fading
Like the twin towers of Wembley
Taken apart by crane upon crane upon crane
The memory of my grandfather still working the stalls
Embroiled amongst the shouts of crazed young fans
Screaming that they were 'on their way!'
Consigned or lost to history, or a future?
I'm unsure....
But the boyhood memories will remain
On these shores,
Upon this turf,
Within these walls
The bastion of all England's sport
Stands alone in my mind
An emblem....for one....for all.
