Weary Words

The words are all the same, drowning in familiarity and repetition. They're words that are weary and hold little language in their exterior.
The words come out for all forms of occasions, birthdays, weddings and more recently - funerals. No one ever really knows what to say so they go with the tried and tested, the words that have been used in the past and accepted. They almost become empty of meaning, empty of language, but they're accepted and appreciated none the less.
One day new words will come, new platitudes, someone will think of something that goes beyond the simplistic, something that goes deep into the soul and resonates there for years to come.
Until then the simplicity of language will remain, the regular words will be accepted and be met with gratitude but deeper meaning will forever be out of reach and forever elusive.
