Her hair was pulled back with thick tight hair band. The curls were lost in the head glistening from gel: they were flowing down her neck like the waves in a wild sea ' shining and deep.
Some crazy woman was laughing hysterically on the back seat, talking to herself, as if talking to the hair in front of her, coming out of the edge of the hair band, motionless as before.
-Girl, your hair band will fall! Ha-ha! It will fall! Your hair will fall down! Ha-ha! - the crazy woman was laughing. It tells me that you have imprisoned her, you always fasten her like that, and it hurts! the crazy woman got startled. _ It tells me to set it free, this curl on top is talking to me! - God, let me go!!! The woman was already screaming in the whole tram: -Let me go, I want to breathe, where are you taking me?
Bored faces were turning to her tentatively.
-What are you staring at? Let go of my hair!! Ha-haaaa-haaaa!
Suddenly she stopped. With a sharp movement she pulled the hair band. The hair was let loose and it broke chaotically in wild curls. It covered the whole seat behind its owner.
Ha-ha-ha!¦.
The woman turned abruptly! ' How dare you touch me! I am not going to bear you, woman! - She was screaming hysterically in the mad woman's face, eyes wide open, staring, full to the bottom with hate and intense contempt, her hair spreading in all directions.
The mad woman withdrew. She waited and looked around. The girl gathered her hair in a sequence of almost pedantically measured gestures. The hair, now pulled even higher in a popped ponytail, was hanging in the air, not touching the shoulders. The girl looked through the window; she appeared completely calm and unperturbed by the fact that the looks of the stupefied passengers were fixed on her. The tram stopped and the girl got up slowly and got off.
The mad woman was staying quietly, with mouth wide open; she kept it open until the last stop. She was smiling nervously and somewhat grotesquely. She was looking with blank eyes somewhere in the blank space. She didn't get off till the last stop. She was becoming more and more alone. In the end she remained completely by herself in the empty compartment of the tram, lonely and coiled from cold.
