On My Thirteen birthday on a brick cold day in January I was to have
a party. It wasn't advertisted for the whole world, In fact I think
only three or four classmate knew plus my sisters. There were so many
of us that we made a party just amongs oursleves.
Time ticked away and by four o'clock my door did not ring. My mother
acted as nothing was wrong, she did not even speak those special words
of "Happy Birthday"! I cried for another hour and then decided to go
and look for my classmates to see how come they weren't coming to my
party.
Everyone seems to have forgotten my birthday or the weather might have
played a good part into this too brcause it was cold and by the time i
reached some of my classmate houses i was almost frozen. I also
remembered my neighbor next door gave me a jar of dimes and nickels and
how I thought i was rich. I was so rich that i let my mother borrow the
money to use to play bingo.
I am now In my forties and everytime go there with the thought of my
thirteenth birthday i get sad because that was the year my mother
forgot to wish me happy birthday. I never had a party to celebrate my
birth because of this memory.
