I can certainly understand the American point of view. Syrian (is it Syrian?) and Iraqi refugees from the Middle East are given welfare and helathcare while many Americans are not. Some Hispanic residents are given a free education in Texas without acheiving any academic excellence. In California, there are benefits for Hispanics too.
When I really think about how immigrants are treated better than Americans, it really breaks my heart. At the same time, does this mean that we should have such an "entitlement" culture?
It's not just the workingclass. It's across the board. In the Soviet Union, there is one exam for the Jews (A higher standard) and one for the others. Soon, we'll probably have workingclass affirmative action programs to Ivy League schools (an affect of the race-based system to the class-based system) that cuts down on the number of Jews and Asians. Or is this already happening already?
If this is what America wants, then I suppose this is what Americans want, but this gives the "best" of the generation no "incentive" to do great things, to be unselfish... etc.
