A Child's Hands
A child's hands,
Smooth and unmarked.
Soft and gentle,
Feeling and discovering,
Perfect in shape and form.
Minute nails and creased knuckles,
Touching and exploring,
Reaching and grasping,
So gentle and loving,
So strong and urgent.
Unsoiled by labour,
Uncreased and hardened by age.
Constantly moving,
While awake and in sleep,
Finger touches thumb.
Sensing and learning,
Picking and pointing.
The innocence within,
Shows in a child's hands.
