Swinging the Lead
swung from the clouds like a bolas, as if metal, like plumblines
swerving
on string, swifts pass, curving in swipes, describing segments in the
air,
cutting tools, carving knives, slashing between buildings like
something
Batman might throw, something which if gripped might slice through
fingers,
not ten feet distant, in switchback grace they whip round like
swingball,
sweep like lawnmower blades, squealing brakes, wings trembling,
rolling
and bouncing over molecules, atoms for bearings, earwig tails pinch
and
flex, their concentric mumming a hypnosis, a bedtime story, a drug
