An Old Lady

an old lady walks into a room
see the chair there no one sitting there
the rooms feel lonely
and without sound
she sits down by the lonely chair
pictures of the wall
the tv on
just to make some noise
to killed the silence
Hears a key in the door
its the lady from next door
with her shopping
they chat and chat
she wants it to go on forever
but the lady has to go
to see to her own home
as she closes the door
her world is lonely once more
she got a phone
her kids ring now and then
the years went by
and her body aches
and her mind would wander
back to a time
when she was young
and before she knows it
the sunset comes
oh she wishes she could go out on her own
and feel the air
and the wind in her hair but
she has to be taken out in
her wheelchair
oh how she use to run
as far as she could
play games
running after
her kids in the wood
and
she hugs her husband
at night
and he would say
are you, alright love
the kids came to see her now and again
she tells them she was fine
to get on with there own life
it was on a summer day
and she and her neighbour were chatting away
and kids came to stay
for a little holiday
the sun was beating down
warming her face
she could hear there laugher and joy
she wasn't lonely at that moment
but out of the corner of her eye
she saw her love
who said it time
she smiles at her
family
and said enjoy the sun
and she slips away
