Sea of Lies

Deep in the forest, protected by the trees,
I've hidden, as the leaves block out the world.
Clinging to branches that hang down low;
True to myself, but greedy as can be,
For I won't share my truth with the sea of lies;
Although it might catch on and change the tide.
I fear the lies will blind my virgin eyes,
And bring me the world I wish not to see.
Shattering the serenity I know so well;
Like a rock skipped on a glassy pond,
The ripples relentless and infinite it seems.
Some moving away, some reaching to me.
But, I must show the world; I must stand strong,
Anchored in the sand I have got to stay;
For the only other choice is to conform,
And I'd rather not be the dark sky at night,
But instead the stars that shine for the world to see;
Shining with truth and individuality.
I will teach all the darkness to twinkle with us stars,
Rather than staying a lie in the crowd.
I'll teach them to always be sincere to their souls;
And to live through honesty, not lie.
I've always wished for more stars in the night;
When one day the whole world will shine bright.
