The Dance
I stand alone, yet in company. The wind whispers gently beside me and
caresses my skin and hair. The trees sway in subservience and answer
the winds call. I laugh and hear the sound echo around me like
birdsong.
I dance.
I dance and in my mind I hear the drum.
Nature's drum that beats steadily like a heartbeat and carries me
along. It pounds softly in a steady rhythm.
I dance faster.
The wind's whisper becomes louder and the drum beats faster. My pouding
heart answers in reply. I dance and the grass beneath me embraces my
feet.
I am one with nature.
I laugh.
I hear the Goddess' echoing my laughter as I dance with the wind. The
trees sway in time with our music which has no sound, yet is more
vibrant than any which I have previously known.
It stops
As suddenly as it began. Smiling, I open my arms in an embrace towards
the Goddess and all she has given me. I thank her and fall to my knees,
eyes shining with the wild fire that comes only with having joined The
Dance.
It is done.
