Mutual Fantasy

Ten years before we met you were sipping black
coffee bare-foot in your kitchen,
humming the occassional tune to the radio.
Not a million miles away in my bed of dreams I could
see the steam rise from your running bath
as you slipped gingerly into the heat,
masking your body in a lake of molten silver.
Five years before we met I laid on our deserted beach
watching distant boats flow with the tide.
I imagined I saw you in a cloud
but I didn't know you yet.
Two months before we met you heard rumours 'bout the 'new girl'
Your mates said she was fit, you just laughed and
kicked the stones beneath your feet.
But when you were alone you imagined her jet black eyes and soothing
touch-
"I hope she exists" you said as you turned out the light.
The moment we met we were both in a hurry,
as if time was destined to ruin us
so I ran
and you ran to catch up.
We collided and fused.
