Have you ever heard the saying cheeky monkey ever said,
If not I've got a poem that begins with lots of bread,
This monkey was a menace destroying bits of town,
Children thought him funny as he acted like a clown,
On one particular morning he sat outside a shop,
And made faces at a baker as if he would never stop,
The baker he was angry for the monkey'd scared away,
All potential customers he'd had throughout the day,
No one knew how it happened but it really truly did,
The monkey got inside the shop and amongst the bread he hid,
It just so happened at that time the bread was being sold,
The basket he was hiding in was given to Lady Bold,
The monkey jumped out fast and made such a silly face,
Our baker he was so surprised he turned round in disgrace,
Lady Bold gave quite a scream dropped the bread and ran,
The baker grabbed the monkey's tail and with a lecture he began,
"Cheeky monkey now you listen, it isn't very nice,
To play such tricks on people so you must pay the price,"
The monkey then decided that a dash he'd have to make,
Out of the bakers grasp he lept and squashed a wedding cake,
But the baker he would not give up the ape without a fight,
So then he began the chase it was not a pretty sight,
About an hour later they both lay on the floor,
Pie crumbs on the window and frosting on the door,
The monkey he departed leaving the shop a mess,
And here the saying started, he was the first I guess!
