Her Turn

Everything was always for them, them, them. What about her? When
would she get her chance to relax and not have to be the man of the
house?
All she did was work and worry. Worry about the kids, worry about the
bills, worry about her job, worry about "HIM". And where did all that
worry get her? It robbed her of her energy, her youth, but never of her
spirit.
There are some people who will moan and complain about their lot in
life. She never did, she knew she made her choices and did not regret
the road she took, although it was a rocky road at times. Her goal now
was to get those two sons grown, educated and out into the world. And
when that happened, it would be her turn to live. Her life would be her
own, without pain or worry, perhaps without HIM, the husband who
shifted the load onto her shoulders. She would not play the victim now,
but would be the victor later.
She would often ask herself, why should HE worry about the payments
when the bills get paid no matter what. HE knows she will find a way as
she always had in the past. She had taught HIM how to avoid
responsibility, she, the parent, the wife. HE knew he could count on
her. So HE walks with a clear mind. HE visits HIS children from other
women, which he must pay child support to, taking from his legal and
loyal family a certain quality of life.
While she is stressfully eating herself silly, HE is looking great,
working out every day, taking days off from work, enjoying the weather.
Why does she let HIM stay? For the sake of family, for the sake of the
boys, certainly not for her own sake.
At thirty-five, she is too young to feel old. But, hard times will age
anyone who is not careful and willingly carrying too much
responsibility. My wish is that HER turn will come sooner than she
expects and SHE will remember HIM for a long time. That she will
remember not to make the same mistakes over again.
And SHE will begin to live for HERSELF, and have HER TURN.
