Sometimes I don’t want to hang out and eat with the crew, rather sit in the silence made by the excellent insulation of my car and read. Shhhh.  Warm breath against an ear lobe.  Shhhh.  Finish the page and turn it.  Shhhh.  Next paragraph.  Shhhhh.  Privacy.  All to me.  When I’m reading.  And especially . . . shhh . . . reading Murder by Cheesecake:  A Golden Girls Cozy Mystery.  Dorothy is my favorite.  Shhhhh

I can identify with this piece. Years ago, I discovered the joy of spending most of the day immersed in an audiobook via earphone. It's amazing how many books you can enjoy in a year while no one notices.

I listen to radio dramas at work, better than listening to the industrial clamor and clanging of physical labor.  A friend gave me the Golden Girls novel.  I let slip that I like the show when I saw her eating cheesecake in the breakroom.  Haven't watched it in years but the novel brings back memories.
