Hyde Park in January
Nature's Prozac, day-bright as a knife,
All is alive in the winter sun.
Bones that know they'll see the spring again,
Blood that feels the rush of pain and love.
Fountains and statues look like they should,
'Hey Boadicea, you're looking so good'.
Then that view, that view from St James' bridge.
London transformed in crossover beauty,
Domes of Montmartre mixing with mosques.
Last time I walked here with no hope, no job.
Now all is alive in the winter sun,
And my bones warm to the call of spring again.
