Our Little Owen Man
Accepting the invitation
You came to our party
On Thursday afternoon
Round about teatime
Very punctual
Maybe even early
We’d just put the kettle on
Our ordinary day
Suddenly came alive
As you did
No cake no candles
Simply not required
Just the kiss of new life
On that happiest of birthdays
Delivered from the Cosmos
To Crumpsall’s infant ward
Tiny fingers, tiny toes
A pair of newborn starry eyes
Peepholes to a wider world
Where you’ve emerged a shining star
A son
A brother
Grandson, nephew, cousin
A playmate and a friend
All you had to do for us
Was get here safe and sound
And see how fast the love has grown
For our little Owen man

A lovely poem Turlough,
A lovely poem Turlough,
Congratulations from me too on the birth of a new grandson. Toby looks so happy to see his new baby brother, very endearing.
Jenny.
