Temporary coma

Laying there motionless but alive, breathing almost silently, staring blankly at the wall beside you. It's that time. The time where the most idle thoughts arise from the darkest corners of your mind. A period
in which time may painfully drag as the insomnia kicks in.
You begin to question every thought as they simultaneously appear like the stars in the sky. Overlapping each other you become unable to focus and frustrated as you wish you could stop your mind wandering through the darkest alleyways of your memory. Your head rests against your pillow and your body sinks into the mattress like quicksand. The mind is wandering but your body is dormant as you slowly enter a temporary coma. You realise you're falling. Keeping your eyes open has become a difficult task, almost impossible.
You're sinking.
You're falling.
You feel as though you are drowning, but you realise it's just your own saliva trickling down your cheek.
You feel as though you are dying, but once again you realise that you're just falling asleep.
