2000ad

 

 

2000ad I ll be 27 years old in 2000ad that’s ages away I am only 11 

I love comics dr who and Dan Dare 

But my current favourite is Judge Dredd 

He has car chases and shots or beats up bad guys 

 

I am 17 I love the stone roses 

I know every word on that album 

I still read 2000 ad 

I sit in the garden and read it 

I get the sub text now Dredd is no hero he’s an anti hero their are no shades of gray in his world 

It’s a pretty dark place 

No democracy, the back story is the people wanted total law and order 

What they got was violence and constant threat 

 

It’s 2002 I am 29 

I am working on an Italian cruise ship 

My girlfriend is from Chile 

She’s very smart , well mannered , elegant and beautiful 

The crew is very international 

I love this 

Only 11 English on board out of a crew of 1000 

I stopped buying comics years ago 

 

2011 my university friend gets us free tickets to a science fiction convention 

Sulu is in attendance , He,s brilliant 

I never knew he grew up in an interment camp 

I love Star Trek I have since I was 5

America does nt seem as far away as when I was a kid well no where does once visited

2000ad was 1984 for kids of the 80,s 

Who grew up on Blondie , Star Wars and top of the pops

We also grew up in fear 

The shadow of the bomb 

The 3 minute warning 

The miners strike and days out in Blackpool 

A strange atmosphere of hope and fear 

The human condition? 

 

Fears shift as you get older 

When you ve had a girlfriend from Chile 

When you ve worked with people who ve left their homeland because they could nt stay 

Because they had helped us and the old regime
