Winter's Guest

Staring, sightless;
Eyes that once reflected
A spark of youth with exuberant warmth
Now reflect the silver dust
As it falls about you
Comforting the stone chilled bones
That once shook with decadent laughter
As your lips took pleasure in your lover's attention.
What price is love,
That priceless commodity that spurs a man on?
Goads him, encourages him, engulfs him then deserts him.
No pleasures of the flesh or tragedies of the heart can harm you
now.
You pathetic, glorious, once animated statue.
A grotesque sculpture chiselled by the hand of winter
Look at the infinitesimal detail of your smiling face as you
laugh
Knowing that her warm body awaits you when you return.
You are a snapshot of your life
Your nakedness hides only your soul from our prying eyes.
We can see how fine the contours of your body are
And how beautifully formed your manhood is.
Yet seeing the man is not knowing the man
What thoughts were frozen in your mind
As winter's icy tentacles closed about you?
Did you ever dream in your wildest imaginings
That such a death awaited you amidst the depths of such wondrous
pleasure?
She sits on her bed now
Thinking of you when you were hot and fleshy,
Pressed against her naked body as you became one with her.
The hands on her naked shoulders now are not yours, but in her mind
they are
And that invokes the demons in her blood
The demons that drive her passion and insatiable desires.
Soon she doesn't care that his hands are not yours
Yet still you smile not knowing the truth - a sweet innocence within
the decadence
The silver dust and icicles about your body make you look unreal
Your lifeless, solid body frozen by the winter as you hid from
view.
The man inside her now
Is laughing that same smile captured permanently on your face
Contentment courses through his veins
He caresses the woman as she moans with pleasure
But then a knock on the door - a panic sets in
The man climbs naked from her room
Down the ivy-covered wall, the sweat from his body dripping to the
ground
Disturbing the snow where it falls
He crouches as he reaches the ground, trying not to be seen
Hungry winter winds suck at the warmth of his body.
Inside the woman sits on her bed
New hands on her naked shoulders
Fresh thoughts of lust in her head as she is covered from head to toe
with warm kisses
The winter night relentlessly devours any notion of warmth
You still sit there motionless
But your eyes now reflect something new
Another set of sightless eyes as the man from the ivy-covered wall
succumbs.
Laughter from the window above as winter claims a second guest
