~Eos and Nyx~
Amid the dewdrops drowning,
Eos bathes the land for day,
while whispering of softer things
to lead the goddess night astray
"Would you not keep your beauty fair?
oh goddess Nyx of darkness deep
I ask you now because I care,
why then do you not seek your sleep?"
"Sweet Eos fairest let me beseech,
I sought to grant you extra rest,"
replied sweet Nyx, in silken speech
while biting venom neath her breath.
"Your radiance is so becoming,
that you dear must rest for long,
to keep that winning face so stunning
and limber limbs agile and strong."
"While I the sister of Erebus,
renew myself each night in dreams,
and so by day await your waxing."
sly Nyx coaxed while plotting schemes.
Eos smiled her warm face glowing,
at the steely eyes of Nyx,
"Ah sweet goddess how you play me,
as if to send me down to Styx."
"Since you birthed your dear son Eros,
the fertile God of love and earth,
You've taken on a childish tone,
what happened to your mirth?"
"Speak not to me, the nymph of dawn,
whose seeds are spread to the four winds,
as if I am a child unknowing,
or slave unto my lustful sins."
And so it was with anger flaring,
that Eos blushed a tempered sky,
her quick retorts as red hues glaring,
with every petulant reply
Till Helios tired, of witless prancing
dismissed them both to wait serene,
for day to pass to twilights glancing,
beneath the glow of pale Selene.
