Strange Bedfellows

I.
Such strange bedfellows
are reason and heart:
seperate each two,
but as one - not apart.
Cerebrum sides who oft deride
realness of congruous notion,
while one begets the other
in a logical devotion.
Follow not
fickle heart, it's said.
Follow then
strong head instead.
Can a matter be less clear
for of these voices true, I ask:
Which is the one that speaks?
Which is the one we hear?
The heart beguiles
while reason wiles
within their cyclic trial.
So fine this fight, I smile,
for each would have denial.
Cacoethes passionate of logic,
speaks of more than mere concerned.
And heart that waits a moment
acts with more than fancy, yearned.
II.
Let a scholar ask in wonder,
of spells he ponders under.
Would he quest a truthful potion
without his passion or emotion?
Let romantic drifter
upon his sea or star,
say reason never guides him,
or leads his heart afar.
To falter never once
upon that salient sea,
when his dreams turn course to why
or why his heart must be.
