My Best Friend

Things we've done and things I've seen,
Was your intellect always so keen?
Off and on, I ask for advice.
God knows we're not always nice.
But I know I can count on you,
To help with the things I ask you to.
There's been times when we've both cried.
Without each other we would have died.
I think of times when we were young.
I'd hate to think we'd go unsung.
When times come that seem so hard.
I find comfort talking in the yard.
Now, as we grow older,
It seems we both grow bolder.
Good and bad we have our share.
But in the end will we still care?
I believe that we definitely will,
You will be my best friend still.
Can you see the future and what it doth hold?
If so, tell me, am I still so cold?
I'll be here for you to lean on.
Hopefully, you will not be gone.
Man, it seems we have a lot ahead.
Please stick with me till we're both dead.
I tell you now, you're my best friend.
Our emotions together we can mend.
