TRIDENT
She lies, dark and foreboding.
The sea made fiercer by her presence,
Licks foaming tongues across her weathered skin.
Deep within her armoured hide,
There beats an iron heart,
Fuelled by the heat of captive suns.
This monolith of steel,
An instrument, not of music sweet,
But of Destruction, entire and complete.
Within her grey steel walls,
Apocalyptic horsemen chained
Their fiery steeds prepared for frenzied flight.
Unleashed, they sally forth,
Flaming tails show their path
A target far away.
She springs to life and turns at speed, bursting through the
spray
Her cargo sent and now hell bent
A silent getaway.
The water boils and foams
Around her moonlit shape
Sea monster, returning to the deep.
Far beyond the reach of man,
A land of shadows, dark unseen and cold
Safe from retributions grasp.
Armageddon reigns above,
Whilst she, silent, slips away
Safely held in Neptune's grasp to fight another day.
