A Spanish Tragedy
While you were sleeping, I stayed up thinking,
What it was like lying next to you,
It felt warm, it felt safe
Your arm around my waist,
Your hand upon my face.
Conflicting emotions stiffen my spine
Tighten my stomach, opened the blinds
“Duerme cariño, duérmete,” you plea
But those stubborn little thoughts wouldn’t let me be…
Your beating heart distracts me
Your heated breath entraps me
I feel caged, I feel free
“Que pasa corazon? Porque no duermes, ¿ corazon…
I’m restless, careless, senseless
Breathless,
Unsure what to do,
To kiss your lips,
Stroke your arm
Let you in,
Cause you harm…
You caress my cheek and slyly touch my lips
Gather me close and gently touch my hips.
As the moment stayed suspended upon a lacy thread
I let it shatter when i weakly dropped my head.
“Porque, mi amor…Porque,? you moan
I look into those midnight eyes praying you would
Catch my sighs, wipe my tears…
Fight my battles
Soothe my fears….
As all my dreams begin to sink
I close my eyes and start to think
that
I can only give and you can take
You can feel and I can’t fake
This dark internal madness…
So I look out your window up to the sky
As you get up and hastily brush me by
“Te iras y nunca sabré porque no te bese.” you cry
I turn around and hold you near
As I whisper calmly in your ear
Because the warrior in me never sleeps my dear….
