Radio 4 once ran a competition to write a story in 101 words
It had to include the words: anthropology, groping, Madrid, taxidermy
and volcano.
I did a couple, and one with just 50 as well - see what you
think:-
101 Words - Grey Weekend
As Juan looked around, he began to wish he'd stayed in Madrid. This
student weekend was dull. "I always think anthropology is a little like
taxidermy" - he started his usual speech to a group of new students "we
take a load of facts about human behavior and stuff them into a concept
called?..". While Juan was groping for the rest of the analogy, a
conversation behind him drifted in to his ear "?and the volcano in
Panama in '96 ..". He knew that voice. He turned. "Rosa!" he yelled.
She grinned back. This was going to be some weekend after all!

"What's the code?" asked Japp, "we've one chance". Poirot smiled "Mon
ami, it is so simple! Monsieur 'Epplethwaite has here written five
words; -anthropology, groping, Madrid, taxidermy and volcano". "But
those words make no sense, surely?" Japp exclaimed. "Except to Hercule
Poirot!" responded the Belgian triumphantly. "See -the initial letters
can only spell 'gamvt'. "Before Japp could protest, Poirot continued.
"The Roman alphabet used 'v' for 'u' and 'gamut' means 'range'. In
Roman Italy mountain ranges are called 'Appennino' -in English it is
said 'appen-nine'". "And Hepplethwaite was a Yorkshireman, so it must
be 'nine'" concluded Japp. "Precisement!" Poirot beamed.

Chris wondered why he was here - too late now! When he studied
anthropology in Madrid, a lecturer spoke of natives who practiced
taxidermy on the dead. With the next rumble of the volcano, the
building fell. Chris, in the rubble, groping for escape, thought: 'No
way out! - I'm stuffed!'
