When you left

The door closed gently as my heart slammed shut
No words were spoken but love had said it all
No tears, No sorrows, just an empty space inside
Where love had once made its dwelling Place
Love walked down that lonely path
Taking with it life's promise itself
Blue eyes that looked beyond my soul
Hands that would tenderly hold me
In my deepest despair, walked silently away
What man could hold back the passage of time
And burn those words that were hastily spoken
Time they say heals all wounds
But I died inside
Soft words were no comfort
Warm winds blew my dreams
Through life's delicate cobwebs
A smile that could banish evil itself
The face that would lighten life's darkest of caves
Would no longer be mine,
All this I had won and lost
A prayer was whispered - When you left
