Before & after leaving home?

Dream of what life'll become
Life now, was & will be
Life of may be

Childhood,families ,& friends
Early school
Where everyone felt cool

Once forced to leave home
Confusion, frustration,and anguish
Sets in in a flash

Dreams gather momentum
Dimensions,perspectives & visionary dream
Descending at a lightning speed

Mums are fondly remembered
Their love, generous dispositions
Tasty meals

Grandad's stories
Under oak trees

Meadows,hills & green fields
And winding terrains
Comes the in-betweens

Moments they cheated death
Were out of their depth
Miraculously escaped
From a lion's jaw

Only to be confronted
By a fierce looking outlaw
Wounded, but life spared

Tattered bags & dust bin liners
Ransacked
Meagre possessions
At the mercy of outlaws

Pockets vigorously searched
Few foreign currency bills
Taken
Minds wondered
Mementoes , family photos
Certificates Torn & thrown
Consumed by immense anger

Proceeded forward
Still manifesting anger
Walked towards the horizon
Seemed going to oblivion

Shoes were forcibly taken
Walked with bleeding feet
It was no mean feat

Night fell
Thought were in a living hell
Came their downfall

Before their eyes
In pitch-darkkness
Attempted to cross
A swollen river

Almost drowned
Did doggy paddle
They couldn't swim
Water was shallow
Deep & at times
Reached their bottom

Struggled
Clutched straws
Thought saw outlaws
Heard mighty splashes
Huge creatures
Swam like crocodiles
Enormous teeth, large jaws

Closed eyes
Waited to be devoured
Nothing happened
Was a nightmare

Their lives spared
Gentle crocodiles
Mistaken for outlaws

Became merely figments
Of their distorted dreams
Induced by their fearful dispositions
Stayed the night
Until sunrise

Only to realise
Dream & fantasy have
Overtaken reality

Life of asylum seekers
Full of dreams
Shadows & ghosts

A question mark future
A life of may bes
Uncertain future

Anguish and agony continued
Ending will not be told today

May be
Another time
Another day
