You could have folded your wings
like a paper plane; been borne away
on death’s forgiving breath, were it not
for your sin; that of loveliness.
Spring’s hedgerows – blossoming brambles
and white nettles, await your kiss; purple seas
of love-in-a-mist, meadow vetch, and sweet,
forget-me-nots, pucker their lips, moist –
with morning honeydew.
By whose hand were you ravaged?
Who were they, those who forced apart
your wings that only ever embraced
the coolest of sunshine;
cruelly nailed you to this board,
made you fly through eternity –
dignity defiled – innocence
abused. Freedom’s envoy;
beauty crucified.

This is so sad Tina, in the
This is so sad Tina, in the last stanza. But very, very beautiful!
I love this image;
'purple seas of love-in-a-mist,
meadow vetch, and sweet,forget-me-nots,
pucker their lips, moist –
with morning honeydew.'
Enjoyed greatly.

Hi Tina, I've been awat for
Hi Tina,
I've been awat for a while so I've got some catching up to do - judging by the plethora of cherries I see before me I am in for some quality reading.
This poem is great, a richly deserved cherry. I love the lines:
made you fly through eternity –
dignity defiled – innocence
abused
Well done,

Hi Tina, Thans for missing
Hi Tina,
Thans for missing me and for worrying, but you really didn't need to feel worried. Every now and then I need to step back from things for a while. I hadn't written anything for a while so was pleased to get back on board with this one. The cherry was a bonus!
Thanks again for caring, you have a good rest of weekend to.
