A choir of air-brakes
doing their thing outside...
tuneful it was not, but at least
she could breathe easy again.
Inside "Ruby Tuesday's"
she clears the crocks –
wipes smears of Ketchup
from blue check, tacky
plastic cloths.
On a plate, he’d left a coin...
the brash one...the one
touched her up – put
a pound in the juke-box...
said he liked his eggs
‘sunny-side up’ and what was
a nice girl like her
doing in a shit-hole
like this?
She’d said to watch his hands,
and his mouth, and he’d stormed out.
Kiss a trucker? Perish the thought! And
Charley Pride kept right on playing
kind of flat, a tad off-key – told
the story of her life.

Hmmm...hang on, his biggest and best known hit was 'Kiss An Angel Good Mornin', SSS.
Kiss a Trucker...nuhhh.
Go on, you know you want to, and need, the more focused, intimate, expletive there instead.
T'would be brilliant btw.
PS: Currency, and pun wise, you need quarter first and then dime. Better still, a coin or pound, and then an anglo saxon bob, would be even more exquisite.

Hi Tina. Nice to see you out on the road. The light's a little harsher out there. Made me smile. Where I'm going, I need to get the smiles in early. Have a nice day. x

SSS, I use to follow the
SSS,
I use to follow the works of a wonderful U.S. poetess by the name Carol Lynn Stevenson Grellas, a six time PushCart nominee with a very impressive, extensive, and prestigious poetic portfolio, who you remind me of very much. Until one day out of the blue, her editor told her she ought to get real and introduce a little literary mischief, even irreverence, into her works... and she did. Now I simply can't stop stalking her lol
By God I'm itching to edit this...very very seriously!
