    For all the childless fathers
perhaps,
you didn't love them
well enough; consistently enough.
perhaps,
you never made it;
never found someone
safe enough, to build
a family with.
here we all are:
the childless fathers,
drunk in the afternoon.
each of us,
cradling a drink,
with the poorly disguised hope,
it may love us back.

Love this especially the last stanza; 'cradling a drink with the poorly disguised hope it may love us back' - most touching.

A voice not always heard.
A voice not always heard.
'each of us,
cradling a drink,
with the poorly disguised hope,
it may love us back.'
And there we have it - or not.
Poinant piece.
