Held Forever

I miss you

   "Waiter, could you please see to my order, I am in a hurry. Thank you."

These words I did not part to you,
Held back by mind,to keep sanity

   My phone buzzes. It is time. “The check please dear sir.”

For we were never meant to be, 
In lieu of love comes loyalty,to you

    "I must be on time.”I ran.

And such fate as my late arrival,

    "Taxi! Over here, I was first!”

Alas,another has taken that sacred place. 

    I hopped on the next,"to the church quickly, good man."

Yet seared in a faltered heart,

    The taxi slows down, the roads are jammed

Long minutes of silence,shored by the waves of past

    The driver is impatient by nature, he slams the horns.

Induce a manic brain spasm. Such instant pain!

    "Please do stop honking. I have a headache."

From this crown of thorns I adorn.Willing.

    He stops.I chew a few aspirins

In dulled pain.

    The cars are still not moving."I am stranded."

In a void by my design

    "I will be late.I must not be late."

In torment, I am to wait.

    "Damn it!”The driver just took a wrong turn

My lament; to fall in love so easily

    "Take a right here”I instruct.”I cannot be late."

Yet the selfish poet I play

     I have arrived at last,I take my place.

The enchanting muse I render you

    Just in time,the music begins to play.She walks toward the alter
beautiful as ever

On to a failing stage we marched to

    "Where is the ring ‘Puck’?"He asked cheekily.
     My left chest pocket.
    "Here..good luck"

 Yet the words of love were never to be spoken.

    "I do.”She answers at last.They touch lips.

 And now I am left hanging with but a singular question.

    Its finally over,she is happy.”Thats all that matters, isn’t it? “
