To Linger Too Long

Who amongst us can forget those moments when we knew the relationship was over but hoped that somehow the love would last.
Those are the moments when we find out what essentials we failed to provide. Those are instants when we realize there will be no tomorrow to provide them even if we could, which we have already failed to do so often.
Those are the moments when we try to reach into the faded Polaroids of our past recollections and produce them one last time before they fade completely.
Those are the moments that we look through the invisible wall that separates us from the one who breaks our heart as we strive for one final intuitional embrace before the last kiss that will never come.
We’re as close as we’re ever going to get and our reward is separation.
Although sometimes we linger, painfully, awhile longer at the fair even as the lights have gone out and the rides shut down, we know the end is near.
We try to recall the beginnings before the remains of the shipwreck.
The bubbles have not yet turned into barnacles.
We are never more awake
Nevermore

Beautiful and sad. It
Beautiful and sad. It sometimes happens that in the lingering the love turns into something new and better, that's my experience anyway.
