I am not
A Wife beater
A Sex offenders
Or a BNP voter
I am British working class and proud of it
Proud of multi culturalism and tolerant of all
I do not hate any race or sexual preference
So why am I automatically classed as discriminatory in your words ?
You want me off the streets I ve been off the streets all year except -work - shop - home
We are all lonely
We are all bored
We are all uncertain
We all have to much time on
our hands and too little space to fill it
To speak in Parliament is a privilege
You claim you would nt mind losing your job on your website
That reeks of privilege
The privilege of someone who knows their job is safe
Most folks jobs are nt safe
All futures are uncertain
We are all in shock
Covid has rocked our lives
Into this madness fall two great acts of misjustice
Last year
In america the police murdered a black man
By kneeling on his throat
A shocking act of murder
From those sworn to serve and protect
This year
In Britain a woman murdered by a police officer
Walking home alone
Two great injustices in the middle of a crisis
We are all uncertain
And members of the establishment have let us down
Who is policing the police ?
It feels the people are with camera and demonstrations
But what of us men
Do you think we do nt feel ?
That we inhuman to you by virtue of our birth
What makes someone so bitter and angry with those they do not know?
because the man you fear is not me
Am I the only one asking what the hell is wrong with the world ?
Where's the hope ?
Where's the trust ?
Where's the community ?
I have the same questions as you
A male curfew , political point to be sure , maybe your just been playful in the house
Making a point about the message to women , don't all sane men want to protect women and children
But what are men to you ?
We are not all the same
Just as no two women are alike
The basis of reason is fact
And the fact is if you are afraid
That is not personally my fault
We have been stuck in for a year
With the highest death toll in Europe
Men dislike showing strong emotion
This does not mean we are unfeeling
No
I know death and know
How it feels for a friend to be murdered
Leaving his daughter without a father
I know how it feels to lose friends to suicide
Your uncaring portrait of us
Makes me wonder have you no
Father
Brother
Male friends
Are we monsters to you ?
What gives you the right to question my honour ?
We are men
Not monsters
Not toxic
What you call toxic masculinity
Has always been called strength
Strength which has kept this island free for a thousand years
Not deplorable
Not in charge at the deepest levels of public policy
Not to blame in a culture that loves apportion blame
We are not privileged
And nor are we always responsible
"I am not my brothers keeper"
What is woke ?
The Buddha was awakened
And a man
All men are evil
All men are rapists and murderous
That's a ugly lie
As ugly as any lie
As ugly as any discrimination
My mother called my house the United Nations because I did not see the colour and gender of my little friends at primary school
The world is now more open than ever
I will not carry the blame for past wrongs
There are psychopaths in this world
Some of them wear uniforms
Who's fault is that
Last time I looked it was parliament that made the laws
Armed police ?
Why do we need armed police ?
And what type of person wants to carry a gun to protect the public ?
It rarely seems to stop terrorism
And may be its attractive to the wrong kind of person is that not the right question for Parliment
The one no is asking
So I ll ask it
But not everyone in uniform is Againist the people
To Recognise the human in others
That's the power that stopped the tanks at Tiananmen square
Who knows what happened to that man
That brave , brave man
But he stands for the power of men to care about their fellow men and women I wish I had his guts
My son is growing up in this world
And does nt need to be labelled as toxic
Nor are the British people on mass racist
Do not lump all British men in with them
Can nt you see that is unfair ?
Is this not the country of fair play ?
We all
Want to be
Free at last
Free at last
Free at last
Just like the just Dr King said
The wise listened
To a man who saw everyone as equal
I had no say in ancient laws written long before my time
and I am tired of been streotyped to suit political whims
