[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
Deepest turmoils of the soul
stilled for those who drink, abide
with their Maker – hear His call –
‘thirst’ quenched, ‘hunger’ satisfied:
So much causes want or waste.
Come! Hear! His provision taste.
Not with money, service given
– we could never meet the price:
all the gift and joy of heaven
offered freely by his grace.
So much causes want or waste.
Come! Hear! His provision taste.
All want peace, but like to choose
– source invent or ‘shop around’,
call of God ignore, refuse
– empty longings still abound.
So much causes want or waste.
Provision through life’s troubles taste.
Mankind’s appetite’s confused,
– looking daily for quick thrills,
entertained, relaxed, amused
– but such cannot heal their ills.
No real help in drought or waste:
Provision through life’s troubles taste.
Jesus suffered, we’re enriched.
He paid for our banquet feast.
If you’re of your sin convinced,
come, confess, receive this Priest.
Don’t let life remain just waste.
Come! Hear! His provision taste.
Tune: 77 77 77 eg Heathlands by Henry Smart, tune of ‘Jesus Master whose I am’
*“Come, all you who are thirsty …all you who have no money …Why spend money on what is not bread … listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.” Isaiah 55:1-2

barren wasteland
I know we mustn't be jealous but I will tell you I wish I had the the knowledge and understanding you have of the Bible. I can only stutter and stammer.
In barren, desert drought and wasteland,
And yes, I am thirsty, "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God".
Keep well, all the best Rhiannon! Tom
