TANKA: Rain
Heavy metal skies.
Cloud’s pregnant waiting time.
Releasing their juice,
shards of silver arrows fall.
Running rivers of relief.

Pregnant clouds
Your line
Cloud’s pregnant waiting time
struck a chord with me.
Here in summer we often experience heavy and very destructive hail storms. We know they are coming when we see mammatus clouds. These are huge, pouch-like clusters resembling udders (hence the name mammatus) that hang beneath the base of a parent cumulonimbus thunder cloud. It’s in these that hailstones as big as hens’ eggs are formed.
