WANDERLUST PART 1
Swimming through the sand, I chanced upon a sword which tapped me
several times upon the crown. I took the sword and cut from the sky,
the sun, and wrapped it about my head. I moved on in spite of the
grains beneath my nails until there, nowhere, I met a mole who
condescended to tell me that my direction was false with respect to
what I seek. South! he cried an inch from my nose. And there nowhere I
bid him farewell, turning my back to the dark sky swum down. I took the
sun for my light and licked and stuck it to my chest to warm my heart
amid the cold tasteless earth. It filled my mouth. It was not long of
course, till a worm upon my course was caught in my hair. I apologized
and heshe told of caverns by. A comfort of an underwater stream and
smooth caramel coloured rock on which to rest the bones of a wanderer.
And there I was in small time to take a handful of water and wet and
wash the dirt from my mouth. I took my rest on the ancient rock and
dreamt that I was a salamander with iridescent skin reflecting brightly
in the glow of the earth's core. Upon awaking, I spied the unexpected,
a pard or leopard depending on your age, was looking to the stalactites
with fury. He had not noticed me or cared to. 'What does you there
pardolotus ?' I said, and the following replied: 'have you seen a base
brown hawk with a scornful look fly you by? I have chased him for years
when in the field he flew into a cave and I followed and follow still.'
Tell me, said I, what makes you chase? Love, he said with a still head,
love.
