forgive me a straightforward poem
every now and then
if not then, then now at least
for though I like the distraction of verse
(it's almost as good as outraged conversation,)
I sold my right hand to a camel
who's got the hump, the plans for revolution
and my face
He's going to execute a load of old crones
if I don't catch him in my hat
with the smokey Welsh rain
Drop me off at Peel Street
when you're fed up with these
cleverly disguised opportunities
