Alone in a crowded room
I'm trapped and bound.
Wanting to contribute
To the escalating sound.
The room is filled with laughter,
Conversations full of cheer.
Talking of friends and family,
I shed a tear.
Music fills the void,
Pounding at my ears.
I sit and watch,
Realising my fears.
I'm alone,
I scream,
I wish this were not me,
Wishing it were only a dream.
Staring,
Leering,
Clapping,
Cheering.
I'm surrounded with questions,
Yet feel so alone.
Why am I here?
I should be at home.
No one understands,
It all seems surreal.
In a crowded room,
Loneliness is still so real.
Isolated is who I am,
Unable to reach out,
Unable to grasp a helping hand.
