A Failing Feminist

Your rejection,
your refusal set my world spinning.
You were nothing -
just a crush.
I thought you meant little to me.
But when you told me of your decision it tore me in two.
Now I lie alone and dream
of being in your arms.
Or anyone's arms.
You see,
it is not you I miss so much that I ache:
it is somebody,
some figure who holds me close
and keeps me safe.
Female society dictates that I must be strong,
independent of men,
and usually I am...
but now and then I need somebody to look after me,
to protect me.
Is that so wrong?
