The Dream
They all sang Amazing Grace over Will. Dolly, sang I'll Meet You at the
River.
Jess, ended the services by saying a few words.
Angel asked Dolly, if she would like to spend the night with them? She
muttered,
"no, I think I should get used to staying at my place. I will be
alright!"
Angel hugged her and said, "we will see you tomorrow!" Dolly smiled as
she
turned, and walked towards home.
Jay set down on the sofa. He said, "what are we going to do with two
homes
Angel?" Did she give you everything in the house too"? Angel nodded her
head
"yes". I am still in shock Jay; I can't believe this is all ours!
"Jay" what do you want to do Angel asked? If you want to go back to the
cabin we
will it, doesn't matter to me!"
Jay stood up, and walked slowly around the room. He peeked in
everything that had
a lid on it. "I think we need to stay put," he, said. Besides, the kids
love it here, and
their rooms are so much bigger. Angel, you always wanted a flower
garden, an
extra room for sewing. Angel laughed, Jay there are three extra rooms
in this house.
Jay came over, and swatted her on the behind, and said, "I guess we
better get busy,
and extend our family!" Angel busts out laughing. She threw her arms
around his
neck, and said, "I love you Jay."
Beth came running in, and said "mama" I want the room at the end of the
hall! But
Jess said, "that was his room". Jay chuckled, Beth I think he is
kidding; the bed has
a canopy on it.
Jess popped in, and told her, "Beth it's yours you big cry baby. I was
only playing
around with you". Besides my room has a fireplace.
Jay said, "How would you guys like to live here"? "They both stated,
"They would
love it"! Jess asked, "what about the cabin pa"? "Well! I suppose you,
and I will be
making another trip son, and pick up what we need", Jay,
responded.
Jess said, "Pa, remember when I got snakebite, and I told you, I wanted
to tell you
something". "Yes son, what was it", Jay asked?
Well, pa, I dreamed we moved! I could see a house in a distance; but I
never could
see what it looked like. "Pa," I saw that picture in my dream, Jess
pointed to the
eagle in flight. Angel, and Jay stared at him.
Then, they glanced over at the picture. Jay broke the silence, and
said, "what about
that"! Angel told them, "That gives me goose bumps"!
Beth yelled, " mama, pa" look some ones coming. They run out on the
porch. Jay
said, "well, I'll be, it's a stagecoach". They drove up, and a family
of 4 stepped out.
Beth whispered, "mama, they have kids, and she smiled". Jess said,
"They do don't
they; eyeing a pretty young lady, as she stepped down from the
coach.
Jay strode over to the family, and the coachmen. He said, "Welcome to
the Crabb
family's home"! The End!
Note: I wrote "The Mountain Girl" in loving memory of my dad. He
resided in the
Cumberland Mountains. He was a number one storyteller, of the
neighborhood. I
love you dad!
