Chapter 12
Capalia city
It was nearly 7.30 in the morning, Kale and Halen had arrived at Fantacia’s house on the Manor Estate, everyone had breakfasted. That was except for Stu and Orion who were still sleeping soundly in their beds, a Human habit on Orion’s behalf but obviously a necessity with Stu.
Comet called Stu again and heard stirring from the room he occupied, “Alright, alright...I’m up.” He shouted impatiently.
Comet laughed “Humans are just no good at the getting out of bed thing are they?” he said to Safire, she sat drinking deer blood at the table in the very large kitchen area of their house. The kitchen units white and clean with marble black tops, her dining area had plush dark blue carpets and a large oak dining table with twelve chairs cushioned with a dark blue velvet. Safire sat at the breakfast baron a high stool.
“Human habits still confuse me a little; I can’t see why they waste their time sleeping.” She said.
“Through need dudes!” Stu walked in hair straighteners in his hand. “Am I really late?”
“No you still have time, but you may need to get a move on, I noticed the jeep outside, so Kale and Halen have already arrived next door!” Comet said to his friend.
Kale and Halen waited out in the hallway by the large banisters...
“Come on you lazy sod; get out of your pit.” Kale shouted up the stairway.
“Can I climb on the banister and slide down?” Halen asked mischievously.
“It’s lethal, you’ll take the hat off your dick!” laughed Kale.
“Nah, it’ll be fun. Come on help me climb on.” said Halen.
Fantacia walked through the hallway looking at the boys; they stood there innocently as she passed them by.
“Are you boys ok?” she asked them suspiciously “Would you like a drink or breakfast? Do you boys want anything?”
“No thanks Fantacia, we are okay.” Kale said politely.
She walked away as the two boys yelled up again. “Orion, get up you lazy shit!”
Fantacia watched in confusion.
“Get out of friggin’ bed.” Halen shouted again looking up the stairway pointing his voice upwards “Geeeeeeeet up!”
Fantacia shook her head and walked off to the kitchen.
Halen couldn’t resist anymore, he climbed half way up the stairs then jumped on the banister after cocking his leg over first and began to slide down.
“Wooow-myyy-nadds!” Halen shouted as he slid down the banister.
Kale began to laugh hysterically; Halen slipped and hit the floor just in time for Orion to walk through from the side door. “What’s all the shouting about?” he said rubbing his sleepy eyes “Halen you idiot what you shouting up these stairs for? I don’t live in this house; I have my own annex over there,” Orion pointed then spoke to Halen like he was from first grade “the conservatory, house with big windows, no more clues!”
This made Kale laugh even more, while Halen stood looking a little embarrassed holding onto his manhood trying not to look like he had just sliced his balls in half!
“Where’s the Human then?” Halen asked trying to change the subject quickly.
“Dude!” Stu said as he walked in the side door as well “I maybe Human, but at least I called to the right part of the house!”
Halen’s face flushed a deep red colour.
Drakos stepped in the hallway now, from the library area; he had been watching the boys for a while.
“Oh Goddess’, this is gonna be so much fun!” he said looking at Halen with a little concern “are you alright? I’d hate to think you could never father children.” Drakos was still serious, he began shaking his head “This will be Hell, I am about to go out with four young guys shopping, I love shopping.” He said sarcastically. “I should kill myself now save the bother later...”
“Now dude, you know Voxians can’t commit hari-kari, it’s against the law here!” Stu said smiling “not sure how they could arrest you though Dude! You’re dead...or should I say you would be.”
“That’s okay; I’ll just ask someone sympathetic to kill me. I don’t mind who. I just know that this is gonna be a head doing day!” Drakos said now smiling.
“Ah man, time for a group hug...” Stu shouted.
All four ran and hugged into Drakos.
A camera moment for all to see, unfortunately for Drakos, Fantacia always had a camera. It had become part of her paranoia after her memory wipe for Earth; she would always take lots of pictures just in case she ever forgot again.
“Come on, it’s time we got going.” Fantacia said as she picked up her car keys.
“Okay, now here’s the question of the day, who’s driving?” Drakos asked.
Orion grabbed the keys to the vehicle from his mother. “That’ll be me!” he said.
His family and friends left the house and all bundled into the large car outside.
Kathos and Ledawna had been walking with Shadow in the garden; they saw the family leaving so waved as their family left the Estate. Shadow sat beside Kathos looking well walked, happy and healthier than ever before.
“Orion...is it me or has that dog grown bigger since he arrived here?” said Kale.
Orion looked back as he stopped at the gateway “Maybe, Mmh yes, your right, he’s bigger!” Orion said, he shrugged and then put his foot on the gas and drove away.
Fantacia looked at Drakos, who gave her a smile as they began the drive to Capalia city.
They drove through one of the villages, the houses were bigger than any Orion had seen on Earth and they looked very gothic with black and white striped patterning on the outside it looked like Stratford in England.
Orion began thinking of his friends who had lived there Leah, Vicky and all the other Humans, some who had been left behind when he had moved to Titan.
Stu sat looking around as they drove, he was half expecting to see a black cat on the windowsill and a broom stick outside the door, the gardens were small, full of herbs and flowers with privets or thick bushes bordering the land and the usual one large tree just at the side, it was quite freaky really especially as they all seemed to look identical.
Fantacia smiled at the two boys “Creepy Hey?”
“Mmh...Just a bit.” Orion said.
Fantacia looked at Stu, he was sat daydreaming out of the window, he spotted a Voxian Goth. She stood with her dyed jet black long hair and pale face wearing a small pleated tartan skirt in red and black, with black nail polish and a white furry top that came to her belly and a thin handled leather bag in black.
“Strange isn’t it, how the fashions on both planets seem to be similar?” Fantacia said laughing as Stu carried on eyeing up what he called ‘the sweetness’.
“Dudes that chick is awesome.” Stu said.
“Mate you really need to get rid of that hippy shit! It just sounds wrong.” Orion said. “What the fuuuu....”
Suddenly the brakes were hit.
The car came to a screeching halt, as a white figure appeared in front of the car; the creature turned its face towards them to look inside the vehicle showing its jagged fangs, a mouth full of them.
Then the figure screamed with rage, taking off up the road.
The boys jumped from the car as it came to a stop and then four other Voxian warriors appeared giving chase to the creature.
The boy’s stopped.
“Do you need us to help?” Kale asked the leader.
“No we got it!” The leader replied and disappeared faster than the creature had.
The warriors continued the chase, following the creature going through the village the friends had just come from.
Orion looked on at his mother and father still sat in the vehicle, they didn’t even look fazed, they just talked to one another, Kale and Halen just shrugged getting back into the car.
“Dude what was that?” Stu asked. “It looked like what I saw on Titan!”
“That my friend was one of our enemies, Vardu!” Orion said as they both climbed into the car.
Stu shuddered, he remember them.
Orion started the engine again and they continued driving.
As the one village ended another appeared, these were a little more modern, as the journey went on this seemed to be the same throughout the journey to the city, the houses and areas like Earth had different designs, some seemed to be older and less modern, with the occasional new and modern house that had been added, which stood out like a sore thumb.
“Funny really isn’t it. Vox is so like Earth, unless you had seen for yourself, you would believe that we were actually still there.” Stu said looking at Orion thoughtfully.
“Are you feeling a little homesick my friend?” Orion asked him.
“ME! Nah, dude this place is awesome with me.”
Stu felt at home here and could see that his friends loved it too.
It took only minutes from the villages to get to the city of Capalia, the place was amazing.
As soon as the city was in view, the family could see the massive skyscrapers, all towering in rows of windows, concrete with a the blue sky line, modern buildings, all rowed one after another displaying goods for the Voxians, stereos, furniture, electrical goods all ready for the choosing.
“So what are credits again?” Orion asked.
“Ah!” Drakos said “This is not a world of money, but what we do have is a system that allows those working in their chosen path to get credits.”
“So you all have to earn your food and clothes then?” Stu said.
“In a way, but it is used mainly so that we have a record of what would need replacing. We have no-one who will go hungry, the children on Vox are given credits, they can’t have jobs as they are still are being educated, but the children are limited by their parents to what they are allowed to buy.” Drakos said, putting his gloves in the glove compartment of the jeep. “For instance Emmina, she will have full access to the toy and clothes departments, she will also be able to buy Sky presents if she so wishes. But she will only be allowed some access to things with an adult present from her family.”
“So she gets her credits, but needs a co-signature before she is allowed them?” said Orion.
“Sort of, but she wouldn’t have any access to chemicals, weapons or anything that she may accidently harm herself with.” Drakos said.
“Shit! So what do we have to do to get credits?” Stu asked.
“You have already done it. You will both have to confirm and pick up your cards from the credit banks, but as you are both warriors already, you have fulfilled your obligations.” Fantacia said.
“This sounds really complicated, what about non-Voxian?” Stu said looking at Orion.
Orion looked on and shrugged his shoulders at his friend.
“Mmh... a new problem we will have to deal with if other species start to come here.” Drakos said.
“So are we really all going shopping together?” Orion asked.
“Don’t panic.” Halen said from the back of the car “that’s why we are with you. Your parents don’t want to cramp your style, so we will show you how to sort all this out and we can meet them when you’ve finished the fun stuff, then they will be waiting to take you to Hyedan’s shop, when you have bought all you need. We know how much Drakos hates shopping for anything that isn’t made with a large block of paper.” Halen said as he smiled at his new friends, while Drakos made a huffing sound.
As they stepped out of the parked jeep they all arranged to meet for lunch at Markers restaurant, which was based in the shopping mall in the main part of the city.
The shops in the shopping centre were floor upon floor of goods to choose, the buildings stood 16 storey’s high in some places.
There was a notice on the door as you entered.
In the case of a fire
if you are on the top floors
put your Faith in the Goddess’ and your ass to the floor
then kiss it goodbye!
Orion looked at Stu; the two of them smiled and just walked through the doors into what they saw as shopping heaven, games consoles and computers, everything they had left behind on Earth. Gadgets and silly willies, you name it, the boys had seen it and they were only on the ground floor.
Orion found shoes and clothes that fit him, he didn’t have to stretch them, he didn’t have to wear them in, no problems with holes in his crotch here and they actually had jeans that would not ride up his legs and be too baggy around his waist.
“Oh yes, black baggy jeans. There is a God!” Orion said joking with Stu.
“Oh there’s a God mate, his name is Sausage!” Stu laughed.
“What is sausage?” Kale asked.
“ME! I am sausage. It was my nickname at home.” Stu said.
The friends all began playing about, trying on all sorts of things, hats, EMO wigs, more hats and old man shirts, playing with golf club holders. Halen found himself buying the latest video game along with Stu and Orion; they all bought the latest consoles as well.
“Hey, having this credit thing is great!” Stu said to Kale.
“Yes it is. But it does run out every month, just remember that.” Kale said “Although, I must admit it takes some serious shopping to do it.”
With shopping over, the boys all went to meet up with Fantacia and Drakos.
Drakos had loaded himself up with a horror novel and a collection of horror DVD’s.
Fantacia had been shopping for clothes and shoes; she didn’t find a lot, but was happy just to have lunch at her favourite restaurant again.
“So where are we going next?” Orion asked his mother.
“You boys have been training haven’t you?” Fantacia asked.
“Yes. Of course we have, with Raidar.” Orion said “Why.”
“You need your first defensive weapon; we need to take you to choose your first swords.” Fantacia said.
“Swords, how awesome is that?” Stu said.
The boy’s put their hands in the air and slapped them together in a giant clap.
Stu’s face contorted with pain.
“Oh shit! Sorry mate was that too hard?” Orion said walking over taking his friends injured hand, “I am really sorry. Do you need medical attention?”
“A bit!” Stu said trying to shake off the pain, but it wasn’t working.
Fantacia immediately took Stu to the car and fixed him up with pain killers and a small hand cast.
“We are always prepared, having warriors everywhere you have to be.” She smiled and they went back and joined the others.
Orion looked at Stu with a guilty face.
“I am sorry mate.” he said.
“Dude, its fine, think it’s just a sprain, don’t worry about it.” Stu said patting Orion on his shoulder, with his good hand.
They all stepped outside the restaurant and began to walk down the street.
The buildings just kept going; it was one massive department store after another, there was furniture in some, clothes in others and so on.
The buildings stayed huge and the path seemed to go on and on, until Orion spotted a small shop which was just there suddenly out of the blue.
In the midst of all the other massive sky scraper buildings, the shop stood just one floor in height, with a large picture of what looked like an unfamiliar map of space in the window with a telescope standing in it, the door which was blanked out with a dark blue curtain.
Orion thought for one split second as he passed it that the stars on the space map moved.
But they couldn’t could they?
As he passed the shop window, he saw a strange looking man whose face peeked from behind the curtain of the shop.
Fantacia pulled Orion past.
“You can go back there, once we have got your sword. I think you will be interested in this place Orion.” Fantacia said pulling him a little harder.
They went a little further and another small shop appeared in the large skyline, so this one again stood out mainly due to its small size.
This shop had two floors to it and had nothing in the window, or at the door. When Orion and Stu looked inside, there was a plush yellow and blue carpet on the floor, with an old fashioned beaded curtain in multi colours on the doorway inside the shop.
Drakos smiled at the boys, he could see they were curious. The man stepped from behind the beaded curtain.
“Oh it’s Hyedan!” Orion said a little surprised; he didn’t expect the city leader to be a shop keeper.
“We’re here.” Drakos said.
