Fishermen's Sons

John and Lee Dunn are fisherman’s sons,
Their trawler is called Mary-Jane.
They both have blond hair, they’re an odd looking pair,
In fact oddly they both look the same.
John steers the boat, Lee keeps her afloat,
Bailing out buckets of brine,
There’s a hole in her stern, but that’s no great concern,
As long as Lee’s bailing they’re fine.
They trawl in the deep, when most of us sleep,
And haul in their nets through the night.
They then sit and wait ‘till dawn finally breaks,
They can’t see what they’ve caught ‘till it’s light.
Sometimes they do well, one never can tell,
That’s why we like it, says Lee.
It’s not just the fishing and earning a living,
It’s more about loving the sea.

Hi shades,
brilliant poem, I could see the lyrics sent to
a sea shanty. Really enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
