Remember Me Smiling

While I sit submerged in the tranquility
Of peace and beauty amongst my tall fern trees
And an aray of beautiful scattered red flame
Flowers,on my worn, yet faithful oak bench
In the middle of a small, yet ample garden,
I raise my head as the bright
Burning sunlight beams into my eyes,
As it moves westerly towards me.
But before I can return to my first draft
Of a poem I had intended to make witty
About gardening problems,I catch a
Glimse of two Fledglings fluttering
From branch to branch in my
Neighbours bird garden.
I smile as they seem so happy
Tweeting away on this glorious June day.
Then I pause for a moment as I hear a car
Back fire and I feel tear drops slowly sliding
Down my face,as I spare a thought for our
Beloved ones who will never get to experience
A Day like this again,Not my father who loved
Been outdoors like me,And who I miss so
Desperatley or a friend I lost recently.
Today my heart is carrying much sadness
for our brave soldiers, who protect us
Every day every where, and one in particular
Is waying heavy on my heart right now.
On a quiet may afternoon another soldier
Lost his/her life, but not thousands of miles
Away in a war zone,no instead on a street
He knew well, And in a place he thought
He would be safe.
Sadly fate intervened and turned love in
To hate. But he's serving once again with
His fellow hero's,who have angels now,
That will keep them all out of harms way.
