I suppose you didn't mean it
The casual jibe – then laughing on your way
Forgotten in five minutes.
And yet you ruined my day.

See my baby jibe
The durty skite! Did you not jibe back? I would have done. Tell me who it was and I’ll jibe for you.
But I do know from experience how receiving a bad jibe can distress the mind.

Sticks and stones
Aye, I'll 'ave 'em... which is an easy thing to say from 3,000 kms away.
My thin skin grew thicker. Folks can say whatever they want these days. It's like sticks and stones off a duck's back.

Long hair
We don’t have any long-haired cats. We had one called Crado (French slang for ‘scruffy’) who looked like a Tibetan yak but he disappeared two years ago. One of our two biggest heartbreaks. The others all need brushing regularly at this time of year to get seeds and burrs out of their fur.
Snezhinka sheds every winter. Her name means ‘snowflake’ which is quite apt because every day in November and December there’s a new blanket of what could be mistaken for snow on the kitchen floor but is actually her hair.

Yes, some idiot can ruin your day by something they think is 'funny'. At my advanced age, I no longer care, and I find a 'Excuse me, I didn't quite hear that, would you repeat a bit more slowly' often takes the sting out of it. They generally look a bit sheepish.
