A house filled with happy memories

This is a place filled with happy memories
After mom’s dementia diagnosis
Will I look back at it lovingly?
Down the kitchen we ate and sang loudly
Where she wrote down the grocery lists
This is a place filled with happy memories
Will she look at my face confusedly?
And scream and shout and raise her fist
Will I look back at it lovingly?
The garden we planted her favorite lilies
The porch she tried to be my hairstylist
This is a place filled with happy memories
Will she look at me filled with pity?
A son whose entire world is shifted.
Will I look back at it lovingly?
Will I be consumed by fiscal worries?
Or would I remember her forehead kisses?
This is a place filled with happy memories
Will I look back at it lovingly?
