Night fishing

Just us—two cocklepickers,
no sense of depth—
in his bobbing, starving cask.
The wreck we'd waited for—
dived down to dream about—
lay cratered, strange
and shattered.
Under boards gone soft and
slimy with sylphweed
and prised apart,
we found fey treasures—
but I fled them, left the gilt
to flake away the ribcage,
to glitter the lilting seabed.
My old rowboat creaks
above the wreck now,
over the bones and wings
left waiting.
Now and then, disturbing
the slicking salt skin,
it wavers up to me—
a dim, deep glow.
Now and then, the line starts
twitching.

love fishing at night
Just love fishing at night Morwenna, fishing is wonderful in the rain also, cleanses the soul.
A bit of advice, these days fishing is just as popular for women anglers. Chess too ... younger days it was mostly only boys. But the girls are still just as popular. Very good for making friends.
For meeting people science clubs astronomy all of that, dancing school or church is excellent as well as other social sport. Forget about pubs drinking places dating agencies and websites classified's mail order brides etc that all is serious trouble. A fool and his money are soon parted.
Off on a tangent again.
"Now and then, the line starts twitching."
Love your poem! You are always very original
Keep well! Tom
