Pound Puppy

I needed a companion,
I was tired of being alone
So I went off to the Pound
and gave a little dog a home.

I'm taking her for training
so she learns how to behave,
And I bought a little crate
so that my carpets can be saved.

I took her twice for shots:
For distemper and for rabies,
And I took her to be spayed
So that she won't be having babies.

I know it's for her benefit,
I know my judgement's sound.
But I wonder if she thinks
that life was better at the Pound!
