Grace is Gone

FADE IN:

EXT. BAR - NIGHT

We hear "Grace is Gone" by Dave Matthews Band.

We are in the middle of the road, looking at a bar. The Sign says
"Ted's".

WE SLOWLY MOVE IN.

The door opens and we walk through when Dave Matthews starts
singing.

WILLIAM THOMAS, 38, sits at the last bar stool, leaning over the bar,
drunk.

WE START A LITTLE WAYS AWAY FROM WILLIAM. WE SLOWLY MOVE IN.

HE looks like shit. HIS cloths are all wrinkled, HE hasn't shaved in 3
days, and HIS hair is a mess.

WILLIAM downs the drink in HIS hands.

WE MOVE AROUND HIS BACK TO THE FRONT OF WILLIAM.

WILLIAM Looks at the BARTENDER and holds up the empty glass.

The BARTENDER pours another shot of whiskey and hands it to
WILLIAM.

WE DO A CLOSE UP ON WILLIAM'S FACE.

HE sits there, looking at the shot of whiskey.

a beat..

HE finally downs the shot.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARK - DAY

WILLIAM and GRACE, 36, are lying together on a blanket in a park.

WE PAN OVER FROM RIGHT TO LEFT..

CUT TO:

INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT

WILLIAM and GRACE are yelling at each other until GRACE slaps WILLIAM
and storms out of the apartment.

WE CONTINUE TO MOVE FROM RIGHT TO LEFT..

CUT TO:

INT. BAR - NIGHT

It's obvious that WILLIAM has been crying.

WILLIAM holds up the empty glass and the BARTENDER gives HIM another
shot.

WILLIAM sits and stares at the shot.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARK - DAY

WILLIAM and GRACE walk, hand in hand, through the park.

CUT TO:

INT. BAR - NIGHT

WILLIAM downs the drink, holds up the glass, asking for another
one.

WILLIAM gets up, puts some money on the bar, and walks out of the
bar.

CUT TO:

EXT. BAR - NIGHT

WILLIAM stumbles out of the bar. HE walks over to a taxi cab and gets
in. It drives away.

CUT TO:

INT. TAXI CAB - NIGHT

WE are on the outside of the cab, looking in.

WILLIAM is leaning on the window, looking out.

CUT TO:

INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT

WILLIAM opens the door, walks in, shuts the door, and turns on the
light.

The apartment is dimly lit, but WE see that there is a lot of trash and
junk all over the place.

WILLIAM tosses HIS keys onto the table beside the door, walks it a
little ways and flops down on the couch.

A single tear falls from HIS eye.

HE falls asleep.

FIN
